Catalina is one of the Tomcat’s servlet containers. It implements the specifications of Sun Microsystems for Java Server Pages as well as Servlet. It is a kind of HTTP web server developed by the Apache Software Foundation which is now widely used all over the world. Whenever the Tomcat's server is being started, Catalina automatically comes into operation.
