What is Primary Domain COntroler (PDC Emulator)?

In Windows NT network Primary Domain Controller (PDC) is a server that is used for maintaining a read-write directory of user security and account Information.

It maintains the master copy of the directory database and also validates the users. There is a replication further of the user data from the PDC to the BDC which is the Backup Domain Controller.
